The La Place building next to the former V&D building on the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam has been completely demolished and rebuilt. Hereby we gave back the alley that was taken by La Place back to the city so that there is a nice passage again to Rokin.
The Neighboring buildings where measured by means of 3D laser scanning. VIC Obdam processed this point cloud in the Teklamodel. The facade is recreated in its old glory. The ornaments become exactly the same as in the past. There is a large void in the middle of the building, from the ground floor to the roof. There are also a number of steps up to 4000 kg each due to the solid construction.
By means of a BIM model, there is easy collaboration with other contractors. As in this case, the complete wood construction is set in this BIM model. Subsequently, we were able to match the steel structure precisely to the wooden structure. Preserving the historic state of the building was a priority.
