Cuypers Vorkliften is een essentiële partner van havenbedrijven voor het verhuur en onderhoud van machines voor goederenbehandeling. Het bedrijf blijft groeien en investeerde in een nieuwe locatie in de Antwerpse haven. Een bestaande loods werd gerenoveerd en uitgebreid met moderne kantoren en werkplaatsen. Dit project kreeg van a tot z mee vorm door Lieven Van Hoylandt, zaakvoerder bij Cuypers Vorkliften en bouwkundig ingenieur van opleiding. Met die studie en de knowhow binnen zijn bedrijf schetste hij heel duidelijk hoe de nieuwe vestiging eruit moest zien. Dat resulteerde in een ideale combinatie tussen moderne kantoren, ruime stockageloodsen en efficiënte werkplaatsen.

De bestaande loods bedroeg 20.000 vierkante meter. Hiervan werd bijna 14.500 vierkante meter gerenoveerd en was 8.600 vierkante meter nieuwbouw. De werken vatten eind 2022 aan met het verwijderen van de asbestdaken. Het nieuwe dak werd gerealiseerd met sandwichpanelen en lichtstraten. Over de volledige lengte installeerden we twee lichtstraten van elk 235 meter. Dit haalt het nodige natuurlijke licht naar binnen, essentieel voor het welbevinden van het personeel. Bovendien zijn brandkoepels en ventilatie geïntegreerd voor een optimale veiligheid.

De nieuwbouwloodsen en kantoren zijn opgetrokken uit betonplinten in combinatie met sandwichpanelen en steeldeck. Het volledige pand werd bijkomend geïsoleerd om het hele jaar door in aangename omstandigheden te werken. De nieuwe kantoren hebben een oppervlakte van zo’n 1.000 vierkante meter. Hier was het esthetische een belangrijk aspect. Kantoren vragen meer detaillering dan een loods of atelier. “Ook hier vormde beton de basis, maar we kozen voor een combinatie met gevelbekleding en aluminium. Het totaalplaatje oogt heel professioneel en vormt de eyecatcher van het project.

De combinatie van renovatie met nieuwbouw, industrie en esthetiek en een uitdagende locatie vormden de nodige uitdaging bij dit project. Alles stond of viel met een goede timing en duidelijk overzicht en samenwerking. We werkten simultaan aan de renovatie en de nieuwbouw waardoor vier werfkranen tegelijk operatief waren. Bovendien wijzigden de plannen af en toe nog licht en moesten we ons blijvend flexibel opstellen. Daar in konden we vertrouwen op Trimble connect om de werkvloer up-to-date te houden met zowel het BIM-model als de meest recente plannen en documenten. Ook naar de bouwheer en onderaannemers wordt via het BIM-model gecommuniceerd. Zo konden we dit project op slechts zes maanden realiseren.”

Cuypers Vorkliften is an essential partner of port companies for the rental and maintenance of goods handling machines. The company continues to grow and invested in a new location in the port of Antwerp. An existing warehouse was renovated and expanded with modern offices and workshops. This project was shaped from A to Z by Lieven Van Hoylandt, manager at Cuypers Vorkliften and a structural engineer by training. With that study and the know-how within his company, he clearly outlined what the new location should look like.

This resulted in an ideal combination of modern offices, spacious storage sheds and efficient workshops. The existing warehouse was 20,000 square meters. Of this, almost 14,500 square meters were renovated and 8,600 square meters were new construction. The works will start at the end of 2022 with the removal of the asbestos roofs. The new roof was realized with sandwich panels and skylights. We installed two skylights of 235 meters each over the entire length. This brings in the necessary natural light, essential for the well-being of the staff.

In addition, fire domes and ventilation are integrated for optimal safety. The new warehouses and offices are constructed from concrete plinths in combination with sandwich panels and steel deck. The entire building was additionally insulated to ensure pleasant working conditions all year round. The new offices have an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. Here the aesthetic was an important aspect. Offices require more detail than a warehouse or studio. “Here too, concrete formed the basis, but we opted for a combination with facade cladding and aluminum.

The overall picture looks very professional and is the eye-catcher of the project. The combination of renovation with new construction, industry and aesthetics and a challenging location provided the necessary challenge for this project. Everything hinged on good timing and clear overview and cooperation. We worked simultaneously on the renovation and the new construction, so four site cranes were operational at the same time. Moreover, plans changed slightly from time to time and we had to remain flexible. We could rely on Trimble connect to keep the shop floor up to date with both the BIM model and the most recent plans and documents. Communication is also done with the client and subcontractors via the BIM model. This allowed us to complete this project in just six months.”
