Swimming pool Ooghduyne burnt down on december the 13th, 2015. It’s situated in a large recreational park. A few years earlier architect Leeuwenkamp had allready made a large expansion to the building. Being so the architect allready had the plans for the “expansion” on the shelf, and only had to redesign the burned down swimming pool (you can see the original building going up in flames in the photo). almost all the foundation work and the existing concrete work for the swimming pool was re-used. This allowed the architect and the main structural engineer to come up with building plans within a few months. Detailling work on the steel construction started as soon as mid january 2016. The plan was made to start with the roof trusses, because there was the most amount of work to be done. The rest was then made around those trusses. In the beginning of July we finished building the steel construction. The proces may not have been perfect, but it was lightning fast, and the recreation park was able to open the swimming pool for at least a part of the summer season!
