Commissioned by developer: Groep Heylen, Willy Naessens Netherlands has realized a new production hall in Houten. The end user is the Royal Dutch Coin, producer of Dutch and foreign coins. The architect of the project is Wastiau & Co Architects.

“Make something as iconic as the old Coin Building, but modern”, was the assignment to the architect who would design the new housing of the Royal Dutch Coin. Not a simple assignment, to design the house of this special company, which is one of the oldest companies in our country, is the only producer of Dutch euro coins and is one of the very best coin producers worldwide.

“The architect took his inspiration from the Dutch 2 euro coin, on which King Willem Alexander is depicted in parcels. This indicates the parceled out landscape of our country; the image you see when you board a plane and fly over the Netherlands. These typically Dutch surfaces are reflected in the golden panels that make up the building, “The Dutch Vault”. ”

The building has a unique appearance, which is continued in the interior of the building. A special combination of prefab concrete and a golden steel construction. However, this good touch is not only reflected on the outside, it is also extended into the interior inside the building.

The new building has a total area of 13,000 m2 (10,000 m2 of which is production space) and should suffice for the next hundred years

Combining all these different disciplines through IFC makes it a beautiful, but also very challenging project. All subcontractors have worked in 3D. As Willy Naessens, we have merged and checked everything through the IFC exchange. We also produced the architectural details from these IFC files so we had an insight into who does which work and in what order. Which greatly helped the construction work on the construction site and was indispensable for this project.
We use Tekla to generate our mounting order. See the MP4 files to get an impression of the way this works. Based on this video, we generate lists and manage our factories so everyone knows to each exact day when which element should be delivered en mounted. This gives us a head start to also manage our subcontractors accurately
