The project is the reinforced concrete tunnel. This is an underground pedestrian crossing at the Alt-Reinickendorf railway station in Berlin. The tunnel is one of the main parts of the railway station reconstruction. This project was done for the client DB Netze together with partners from AFRY Deutschland. The task was to make in Tekla Structures a model and drawings of reinforcement for a structure whose body was created in other software. Information exchange and coordination took place using IFC files. The greatest difficulty was the varied geometry of the object: ubiquitous bevels, non-perpendicular planes and indentations. Reinforcement interpenetrated from different angles, which did not make its arrangement easier in a collision-free manner. “Clash check” tools helped to handle the situation. “Rebar set” tools were used for reinforcement modeling. The result is an IFC file containing a tunnel reinforcement model, and the traditional execution documentation in a form of flat drawings (PDF/DWG) as well.
